The Keepers of the Mitten was founded in 2018 to be a fully charitable organization that provides human services and recognizes, acknowledges, and rewards the selfless acts of individuals and/or organizations that can be most identified with “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
our mission
At The Keepers of the Mitten we believe that all of us as members of the human collective have a duty and responsibility to help those who are less fortunate. Some needs are much greater than others but no need is any less important. We also believe in human goodness and that no deed done with love and compassion for your fellow man is effort wasted. We are our brothers keeper. Our mission is to encourage everyone to participate in making our world a better place by treating others as you would want to be treated.
How it works
All of us have something to contribute. What you can give of yourself, there is someone out there who needs what you can give. Whether it is monetary, a special set of skills, clothing, even just kind words and friendship may be all that is needed to change the course of someone’s life. No act of kindness is too small and no problem is too big that can’t be overcome. Become a member, take the pledge, and put your talents to good works.
Become a member
Make a donation of any amount and take The Pledge and you will become a member of The Keepers of the Mitten! Your donation goes to support our organization and allows us to generate funds for projects that may require supplies to complete. Do you have a passion or a project you would like help coordinating? Maybe we can assist you.

It is really very simple. Pledge to “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” in your personal, business and family life. Place others above yourself and strive to be a good servant and steward.

Find your passion! Form a group from work, friends, your place of worship or another charity and give of yourself. Encourage others to become members and take the pledge. Help your neighbors shingle their roof, give to a local food pantry, visit the elderly or someone in prison, clean out your closets and donate unused items. The possibilities are endless! Take pictures and send them to us and we will post them here! Plus, as a member you can nominate an individual or organization for recognition of their good work making them eligible for the Red Mitten Award!

Besides acknowledging and encouraging good works, we at The Keepers of the Mitten know that you will come across an outstanding individual or organization that truly deserves recognition. In December of each year our Board of Directors meets and reviews all nominations from the previous year and chooses one recipient for The Red Mitten Award. This individual or organization will be recognized for their selfless acts of kindness with The Red Mitten Award, as well as a monetary gift for them to expand their passion and mission.
